Former Wichita State catcher Sean Johnson’s big moment is less than an hour away.
Johnson is the scouting director of the Minnesota Twins. The Twins will pick first in the amateur draft (as well as No. 35) and Johnson will play a major role in that choice. He was promoted in December from west coast supervisor.
Johnson, who attended South High, describes the choice as a group decision. He will serve as the tie-breaker.
High school athlete Hunter Greene is a possible choice at No. 1.
But there may not be not a clear No. 1 choice, and money will play a role in Minnesota’s decision.
The draft begins at 5 p.m. and can be followed online and on MLB Network.
