The Wichita State-Utah game had a scary moment for one referee Wednesday night in Salt Lake City.
After tossing up the ball for the overtime tip-off, official David Hall was hit in the head by an inadvertent elbow from the Shockers’ Shaq Morris and had to be helped off the floor. The game finished with two referees.
It was the second time a college basketball ref has been struck in a game in less than a week.
Rick Crawford was hit above the eye by an elbow during the opening tip of the Vanderbilt-La Salle game Nov. 29 in Brooklyn.
Crawford said he “felt an elbow hit me across my right eye and then I just went down."
"It was a little scary," Crawford told the Associated Press. "I think after the elbow hit my eye, my head hit the floor. I was fully conscious. I was aware of what was going on. So it was a little scary. Just a little knot over my right eye."
