Former Wichita State star Emily Stockman finished second in the Association of Volleyball Professionals Austin Open on Sunday in Austin, Texas.
Stockman made her first appearance in an AVP tournament final, partnering with Kim DiCello to earn $10,000. They lost 2-1 (14-21, 21-16, 15-11) to second-seeded Whitney Pavlik and April Ross. Pavlik and Ross earned $15,000.
Stockman’s previous high finish in an AVP tournament was third in 2015 and again in 2016.
Stockman and DiCello, seeded third, defeated ninth-seeded Amanda Dowdy and Irene Hester Pollock 21-13, 17-21, 15-13 in Sunday’s semfinal.
They finished fifth in the AVP’s Huntington Beach Open earlier this month, the first tournament of the season.
Stockman, an outside hitter at WSU, received honorable mention All-American honors from the AVCA in 2008 and 2009. She was named MVC Player of the Year in 2008.
