Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall was eighth by ESPN.com in a ranking of men’s Division I basketball coaches Wednesday.
The day-by-day ranking on the website had Marshall immediately ahead of Michigan’s John Beilein and Connecticut’s Kevin Ollie.
Seven coaches not yet named in the top 50 but assumed to be named in the final week are, alphabetically, Kentucky’s John Calipari, Florida’s Billy Donovan, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, Louisville’s Rick Pitino, Wisconsin’s Bo Ryan and Kansas’ Bill Self.
Marshall has led WSU to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2013 Final Four. The Shockers were 35-0 this past season until losing to eventual runnerup Kentucky 76-74 in the third round.
