Ottawa High graduate Kord Ferguson was named Gatorade Kansas boys track and field athlete of the year on Friday.
Ferguson, who will be a member of the Wichita State track team next fall, won the Class 4A shot put (64 feet, 7 1/2 inches) and discus (206-2) last month at the state track and field championships at Cessna Stadium.
Ferguson also won both events at the Kansas Relays and Great Southwest Classic. His top marks -- 67-10 in the shot put and 210-3 in the discus -- are the nation's No. 2 marks for high school boys this season.
