Wichita State’s Eric Sexton received Athletic Director of the Year honors from the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

Sexton is one of four honored in NCAA Division I-AAA, schools that do not sponsor the highest levels of football. He is one of 28 winners in all divisions, the NAIA and junior colleges.

Wichita State is enjoying another banner school year athletically, highlighted by the success of the men’s basketball team. The Shockers went 35-1, won the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season.

WSU’s women’s team also played in the NCAA Tournament, as did the volleyball team, women’s tennis and women’s golf. The men’s golf begins NCAA play Thursday in Eugene. WSU’s softball team won its first MVC title.

Pittsburg State’s Jim Johnson was a winner in NCAA Division II.
