Wichita State’s Butler to speak at El Dorado, Kansas Baseball halls of fame ceremonies

Wichita State baseball coach Todd Butler will be the featured speaker at two halls of fame induction ceremonies this month.
The El Dorado Baseball Hall of Fame will hold its induction banquet Jan. 18 at the El Dorado Civic Center. Inductees are Daryl Spencer, a former major-leaguer who managed El Dorado-based Coors of Kansas in the NBC World Series; former Butler Community College pitchers Chris Weidert and Scott Dreiling; and former El Dorado High pitcher Clint Merrick.
Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children for the 5:30 p.m. banquet. Reservations, due by Jan. 16, can be made by calling 316-321-9100.
The Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame will hold its induction banquet Jan. 25 at Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E. Douglas. Inductees are former Wichita State infielder P.J. Forbes; Cowley College coach Dave Burroughs; former Cardinals and Dodgers pitcher George Dockins; Marvin Truby, who is credited with creating the first professional night baseball game (1930 in Independence); former Mulvane semi-pro player Jerry Webster; and the 1954-55 Boeing Bombers semi-pro team, which won the NBC World series in those years.
Cost for the noon banquet is $15 and reservations can be made by calling 316-393-1164.
