According to his Twitter timeline, Wichita State men’s basketball player D.J. Bowles is having surgery on Thursday.
“Praying that I have a successful surgery this morning,” Bowles wrote. A source close to Bowles confirmed the scheduled surgery but declined to give any details.
His timeline is filled with messages from people, including a message from Oldsmar (Fla.) Christian coach Jordan Fair, who wrote “Please keep my man @DJBowles11 in your prayers as he undergoes surgery today. Kid is an absolute WARRIOR!”
Bowles, earlier this week, went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for testing. He collapsed during practice on Sept. 3 at Koch Arena and was taken by ambulance to Via Christi on St. Francis. The next day, his condition was upgraded from serious to fair. On Sunday, he was released from Via Christi.
Bowles, from Cleveland, Tenn., is a freshman point guard. He attended Oldsmar Christian last season.
