Wichita State’s long-delayed men’s basketball schedule is close to completion.
All the Shockers are waiting on is a contract confirming a game against Tennessee State on Nov. 16 at Koch Arena as part of the CBE Classic. Senior associate athletic director Darron Boatright usually doesn’t confirm games until he has a contract in hand. But he is sure Tennesssee State will play at Koch Arena and he is ready to make the schedule public.
“I’m very confident that it’s done,” he said. “We have the (news) release written.”
The delay was caused by the CBE Classic, which lost Canisius from its field to the Preseason NIT. When Canisius dropped out, Buffalo followed. Buffalo had been scheduled to play the Shockers.
WSU will play NAIA Oklahoma Baptist in its exhibition game on Nov. 2. The Shockers will face Baylor in a closed scrimmage on Oct. 26 at a neutral location still to be determined.
TV networks for Missouri Valley Conference games are still to be determined.
Murry signs with Knicks — Former Wichita State player Toure Murry signed a non-guaranteed contract with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN.com’s Ian Begley.
Last week, Murry said he accepted New York’s invitation to training camp. He must make the team to receive a paycheck, according to Begley. Training camp begins Sept. 30 in Greenburgh, N.Y.
