Wichita State improves to 7-0 in MVC

The Wichita State women’s basketball team improved to 7-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play with a 49-45 win over Evansville on Sunday in Evansville, Ind.

The Shockers had to rally from a 31-26 halftime deficit and were led by 11 points and seven rebounds from Chynna Turner and 11 points from Jessica Diamond.

Michaela Dapprich added 10 points for the Shockers, and Darice Fountaine had nine points, four blocks and three steals. Samantha Heck led Evansville with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Shockers, 13-6 overall, return home Friday night to host Illinois State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
