Wichita State picked third in MVC volleyball poll

Wichita State is picked third in the Missouri Valley Conference volleyball coaches poll, two points behind second-place Missouri State.
The Shockers received 84 points in voting by 10 MVC coaches. Northern Iowa is the heavy favorite after getting all 10 first-place votes and 100 points. The Panthers have won the past three MVC titles, going 18-0 in conference matches each time.
Four Shocker starters are back from a team that went 21-11 overall and 13-5 in the MVC and played in the NCAA Tournament.
Senior outside hitter Emily Adney and junior middle blocker Ashley Andrade were named to the preseason All-MVC team.
WSU opens the season on Aug. 24 against New Mexico State in DeKalb, Ill.
