Wichita State senior Audacia Moore received the Dr. Charlotte West Scholar-Athlete Award from the Missouri Valley Conference on Thursday.
Moore, a sprinter from Wichita, compiled a 3.94 grade-point average in nursing and is a 10-time conference champion. She holds five WSU records and three as a member of relay teams.
As a senior, she ran the MVC’s top times in the outdoor 100 meters (11.59 seconds), the outdoor 200 (23.57) and indoor 60 (7.45).
Moore, who attended Heights, served four years on WSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and three on the MVC’s SAAC.
She is the second consecutive WSU track athlete to win the award, following distance runner Tonya Nero. WSU volleyball player Elizabeth Meyers won in 2006.
Southern Illinois soccer player Heath Melugin is the male recipient.
The MVC Faculty Athletics Representatives Committee selects the athletes based on academics, athletics, service and leadership.
