Former Wichita State basketball player David Kyles will compete in the Slam Dunk Championship on March 29 in New Orleans. It will be televised on ESPN at 8 p.m.
The 6-foot-4 Kyles, who just completed his senior season, was featured in an online contest where fans could vote for a dark-horse dunker. Kyles finished second to Martin Methodist’s James Justice, 51 to 49 percent. Both will compete in New Orleans, along with Duke’s Miles Plumlee and Missouri’s Marcus Denmon, among others.
