Wichita State junior Chynna Turner was named Missouri Valley Conference women’s basketball player of the week.
The Shockers went 2-0 on the road to begin MVC play. Turner averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds in wins over Northern Iowa and Bradley. She made 12 of 13 field goals in the wins. She scored 13 points against UNI, helping WSU win in Cedar Falls for the first time since 1998. She scored 19 at Bradley.
Turner leads WSU with a 7.6 rebound average and averages 8.5 points.
The Shockers are 2-0 in the MVC for the first time since 1998-99. They play Drake on Thursday at Koch Arena.
