Wichita State: Drake favors a zone defense, one that is improving in MVC games. The Bulldogs allow conference opponents to make 27.3 percent of their threes, second in the MVC. Moving the ball crisply is the key for the Shockers. “When a team runs a matchup zone for 40 minutes, it hides individuals that can’t guard one-on-one,” Durley said. “You move the ball around and catch them in closeouts, or catch the zone in a bad mistake. The pass can kill a zone just as much as the dribble.” . . . Hannah takes his school-record streak of 42 straight free throws into another arena. He has made all 23 of his free throws away from Koch Arena. Hannah leads the nation with his 96.3-percent accuracy (52 of 54). . . . Murry averaged 16.5 points in two road games last week, making 12 of 23 shots and 4 of 7 threes.
Drake: WSU made life tough for Young in the past three meetings. He is 11 for 39 (2 for 16 from three-point range) in one game this season and two last season. WSU held him to nine points on a 4-of-12 shooting in a 61-38 win on Jan.1 at Koch Arena.æ.æ.æ. Last season, the Bulldogs shot a season-high 53.3 percent in a 74-69 win at the Knapp Center. . . . Senior guard Craig Stanley is out indefinitely after surgery on his right wrist on Jan. 15.æ.æ.æ. Templeton is averaging 17.3 points and 10.0 rebounds during Drake’s four-game win streak. He leads the Valley in three-point accuracy (47.4) and is fourth in rebounds (7.0).
