Neosho stomps Cowley, rolls into finals

Shortstop David Bote went a perfect 5 for 5 with three runs and one RBI to lead Neosho County to a 10-2 win over Cowley on Sunday.

Shortstop David Bote went a perfect 5 for 5 with three runs and one RBI to lead Neosho County to a 10-2 win over Cowley on Sunday.

The victory gives Neosho a berth in today’s Region VI finals at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Matt Strahm picked up the win for Neosho, going eight innings while giving up eight hits, two runs, no walks and striking out 10. Catcher Tyler Palmer went 2 for 5 with three RBIs.

Travis Higgs was the losing pitcher for Cowley, giving up six runs, eight hits and walking six in seven innings. Lane Trudo gave up another four runs in relief.

Coffeyville (35-26) defeated Cowley 13-5 in an elimination game on Sunday. David Espinosa was 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Red Ravens.

Neosho (47-14) will face the Red Ravens in an all-Jayhawk East championship today at 4 p.m.

If Coffeyville wins, the two teams will play again at 7 p.m.
