Cowley wins Region VI opener

Cowley College opened up Region VI Tournament play with a 4-3 win over Pratt on Saturday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Trailing 3-2, Cowley answered with two runs in the top of the sixth inning on RBI singles from Gadiel Baez and Mike Parker.
Skylar Angood led Pratt with two RBIs and one run.
Drew Palmer was the winning pitcher for the Tigers, throwing a complete game while giving up nine hits, three earned runs and striking out 13.
Jarrod Jameson took the loss for Pratt, going six innings and giving up 10 hits and three earned runs.
In other Region VI action, Neosho County defeated Coffeyville 3-1 in 13 innings. Tennessee signee Adam Giacalone pitched 12 innings ina marathon battle with Coffeyville’s Cole Webb, who pitched 11 innings.
David Bote led Neosho with two RBIs and one run.
Coffeyville defeated Pratt 3-2 in Saturday’s elimination game.
Cowley plays Neosho today at 2 p.m. with the winner advancing to Monday’s championship.
