Saint Mary pulled off one of the biggest upsets in school history — if not the biggest — by beating No. 19 Friends on Saturday at Leavenworth.

The Spires entered the contest 1-6 overall and won behind 400 yards passing and five touchdowns from sophomore quarterback Mike Keese.

Jeran Trotter led the Falcons with 148 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

The loss puts a serious dent in the NAIA playoff hopes of Friends, who would have likely needed to win out in order to qualify.
