Impact players are what Newman men's basketball coach Mark Potter wanted, and impact players are what he got.
Potter announced the Jets' recruiting class Thursday, topped by a pair of high-profile in transfers in Wichita State's Mason Felter and Garden City Community College point guard Bobby Wesley.
"We're really excited about the group we signed, we feel like it's a good mix of transfers and high school kids," Potter said. "And the transfers we bring in, we expect to be able to make an immediate impact."
Felter, a Bishop Carroll product, appeared in seven games for the Shockers last season after the 6-foot-8 forward played his freshman year at Dodge City Community College in 2007-2008 then redshirted the next year at WSU.
Never miss a local story.
Wesley, a Garden City native, was the starting point guard for the Broncbusters for two years, including on their Region VI title team in 2009.
