LAWRENCE — Kale Pick will be KU's starting quarterback, coach Turner Gill announced Thursday.
Pick, a 6-foot-1, 208-pound sophomore from Dodge City, appeared in seven games for the Jayhawks last season, completing four of five passes for 22 yards. He beat out Jordan Webb, a 6-0, 210-pound redshirt freshman from Union, Mo.
Gill also announced that senior Angus Quigley will start at running back and sophomore Toben Opurum will move to linebacker. Opurum rushed for 554 yards and nine touchdowns in 133 carries his freshman season, an average of 4.2 yards per carry.
Quigley originally came to KU as a running back, spent last season at linebacker and on special teams, then moved back to running back this spring. He rushed for 309 yards and three TDs in 59 carries in 2008.
Blue Springs' Keeston Terry, a freshman, will move from wide receiver to safety because of depth issues.
