Kansas State basketball picked up an oral commitment from point guard Barry Brown on Wednesday.
Brown, a three-star prospect from St. Petersburg, Fla., chose the Wildcats over Wichita State, Houston, Texas A&M, Dayton and a handful of other schools. He announced his decision on Twitter.
“My recruitment is over,” Brown wrote. “I have officially committed to KANSAS STATE.”
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound playmaker known for both his scoring and passing abilities is the second known member of K-State’s 2015 recruiting class, joining power forward Eric Cobb. Brown averaged 20.5 points for Gibbs High as a junior, helping them go 18-9. He also played an important role on his AAU team E1T1 Elite this summer.
Brown’s commitment comes before an important recruiting weekend for the Wildcats. K-State will host two prospects ranked in the Rivals top 150 — four-star guard Kerwin Roach and Saint John power forward Dean Wade — as well as three-star center Dante Hales Williams on Friday and Saturday.
