Kansas State basketball faces Charlotte in Puerto Rico opener

Charlotte will be Kansas State’s opening-round opponent in the Puerto Rico Tipoff tournament on Nov. 21 in San Juan. The game will be on ESPNU at 9:30 a.m.

Charlotte was 21-12 last season and played in the postseason for the first time since 2008, losing in the first round of the NIT.

Georgetown and Northeastern are the next possible opponents in the bracket for K-State, while the other side of the bracket has Long Beach State, Michigan, Florida State and VCU.

The championship game is Nov. 24 on ESPN2.

The K-State women’s basketball team will take a 10-day, three-game trip to Italy from Aug. 9-19.

In addition to 10 practices to prepare for the trip, allowed under NCAA rules every four years, the Wildcats will play the Italy All-Stars on Aug. 11 in Como, the Vicenza All-Stars on Aug. 12 in Venice and ASD Bull Basket on Aug. 17 in Rome, following a stop in Florence.
