Texas Southern: The Tigers, of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, continue a difficult string of games to start the season today at Kansas State. So far, Texas Southern has taken on Drake, Wichita State, Oklahoma, Oregon State and Oregon, and all away from home.... Thanks to leading scorer Lawrence Johnson-Danner's career-high 25 points at Oregon State, the Tigers were able to upset the Beavers 66-60.... A year ago, Texas Southern finished with an overall record of 17-16 and went 11-7 in conference play.... This will be the first meeting between both schools.
Kansas State: How will the Wildcats respond from their disappointing loss to top-ranked Duke in the CBE Classic? That is the question everyone is asking today. It will be difficult for K-State to bring the same type of intensity to Bramlage Coliseum against the Tigers than it did at the Sprint Center against the Blue Devils, but that likely won't be needed against an overly matched opponent.... Senior guard Jacob Pullen scored just four points and missed 11 shots against the Blue Devils.... Senior forward Curtis Kelly is coming off his best game of the season. Against Duke, he scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds, and with Freddy Asprilla and Wally Judge struggling inside, Kelly may return to the starting lineup today.
