ROSE HILL — Andover struggled for 31 minutes to get offense from anyone not named Kylie Cooper.
She got the attention of two or three Rose Hill defenders, scoring 14 points, but nobody made a basket from outside to take the pressure off her.
Until the final minute.
Audrey Meisch made two threes in the final minute of regulation to help Andover force overtime and defeat Rose Hill 54-50 Tuesday night.
Never miss a local story.
Andover (10-2), which has won five straight, trailed 46-40 with one minute left when Meisch first blocked an open layup for Rose Hill's Courtney Rash, then made her first big three-pointer.
Andover's press caused a turnover and when Andover needed another big shot, Meisch tied it at 46 with her second three 30 seconds later.
"That's what they have to do if they are going to double-team Kylie," Andover coach Max Hamblin said. "The rest of our team had no confidence. I don't know what team that was because that's not how we've been playing, until the last three minutes when Audrey made two big shots."
Rose Hill's Whitney Bates (17 points) missed a jump shot to win it at the end of regulation.
In overtime, Meisch showed her confidence. Meisch made two free throws to give Andover a 54-50 lead with 12 seconds left. Bates missed a three-point shot with 10 seconds left that ended Rose Hill's comeback.
"I think it was just instincts taking over," Meisch said. "When you're in the moment... you just do what you know how to do."
For Rose Hill (8-6), it was a missed opportunity. The Rockets made 2 of 7 free throws in the final two minutes of regulation. In overtime, Rose Hill's offense stalled with one basket and two turnovers.
"I think we had a missed opportunity here and we really needed it," Rose Hill coach Jenny Page said. "We had the game where we wanted it, we just didn't close it out. Hopefully we will learn from that."
