Royals bounce back from rout with 3-0 win over the Oakland Athletics

A day after the Oakland Athletics body-slammed the Royals to end Kansas City’s eight-game winning streak, the response was precisely what is required from a team with designs on playoff baseball. The Royals got a masterpiece from starter Jason Vargas, a two-run homer from Omar Infante and solid defense throughout the night. They maintained a half-game lead in the American League Central over the Detroit Tigers.
