On Nebraska Night at Kauffman Stadium, ex-Husker Alex Gordon homers as Royals beat Giants 5-0

The Royals defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-0 behind pitcher James Shields’ complete-game shutout and Alex Gordon’s fifth-inning solo home run, a special moment for the former Cornhusker to coincide with the Royals’ Nebraska Night promotion at Kauffman Stadium. In winning for the 14th time in 17 games, the Royals crept to a game and a half behind the Detroit Tigers in the Central Division and maintained their hold on one of two American League wild-card berths.
