Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians have released outfielder Nyjer Morgan.
Morgan played in just 15 games with the Indians this season, hitting .341 with one homer and six RBI.
He's been on the disabled list since May 15 with a sprained right knee.
The Indians also recalled pitcher Josh Tomlin from Triple-A Columbus to start Tuesday's game against the Reds.
Tomlin has not started since July 25 when he allowed four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings against Kansas City. He is 5-7 with a 4.47 earned run average on the year.
To open a spot on the active roster for Tomlin, the Indians optioned outfielder Tyler Holt to Columbus.
