Hall of Fame relief pitcher Goose Gossage is the featured speaker at the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission banquet on Thursday night at the Hyatt Hotel.

Gossage was elected to the Hall in 2008 after a 21-year major-league career as one of the game’s most dominant closers. He compiled 310 saves, most notably with the Yankees and Padres.

The Sports Commission will also award area athletes of the year and the 14th Johnny Bench Award, given to the nation’s top college baseball catcher.
