Oklahoma junior Kendric Maple earned a major decision in the quarterfinals, then beat The Citadel’s Undrakhb Khishignyam 4-0 in the 141-pound semifinals at the NCAA Division I Championships in Des Monies, Iowa. Maple (33-0), a Heights product, will face fourth-seeded Mitchell Port (38-3) of Edinboro in Saturday’s final.
Oklahoma State’s Tyler Caldwell earned a 3-1 quarterfinal victory before dropping a 2-0 decision to top-seeded and undefeated Kyle Dake of Cornell in the 165-pound seminfinals. Caldwell (32-5), a junior from Goddard, earned all-American status for the third time.
Penn State has a 20 1/2-point lead over Oklahoma State and can wrap up it’s third consecutive team title today.
