Q: Any chance that KSU plays in the new arena in Wichita next year? I hear a WSU v. KSU game may be a thought. I personally would like to see KSU get a regular non-conference opponent and play them there annually...say, Tulsa. WSU can come to Manhattan every other year if they want to play. Thoughts?
Answered 01/29/09 11:48:29 by Jeffrey Martin
A: I think there have been discussions about this being the first athletic event played in the arena, but the last time I heard that was weeks ago.Submitted by sokko from wichitac
Q: Do you think coach Prince will land somewhere, as an O. cord.? i think he was a good man in over his head.
Answered 12/10/08 14:01:34 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Can't vouch for how good of a man he was, but sure, he can land somewhere as an offensive coordinator. If Tim Tibesar was a defensive coordinator in a BCS conference, Ron Prince can certainly find work again as an OC.Submitted by David Roney from Bakersfield, CA
Q: Now that Joe Bob Clements is back --- What is the chances of getting Alphonso Moran to return? He has sat out the last two seasons and has two years left to play. KSU needs Def. Tackles
Answered 12/10/08 14:00:46 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Not going to happen.Submitted by Wayfroy P. Jenkins from Andover
Q: how big is the impact of Joe Bob coming back to KSU. since he coached at KU he has to know all of their plays and stuff, right? that gives KSU huge advantage over KU for years to come right? please tell me it is so.
Answered 12/10/08 14:00:09 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Sure, I'll tell you it's so. But I don't think KU is really a major concern right now for Bill. He has other things to consider, I think.Submitted by Josh from The OP
Q: JMart, In your interview with Koenning a couple weeks ago, he eluded to a 5-star defensive end he was bringing with him. Do you have any insight into who the mystery recruit is and his interest in K-State?
Answered 12/10/08 13:59:10 by Jeffrey Martin
A: I believe it's Sam Montgomery, and no, I don't have any insight into whether Mr. Montgomery is planning to come along.Submitted by Moon from Taos
Q: Any word or speculation on how Josh feels about the Snyder hire?
Answered 12/10/08 13:58:31 by Jeffrey Martin
A: He told me he was excited about it. Indications are that he will stick around, but there hasn't been definitive word yet.Submitted by icecoldchickewing from Wichita, KS
Q: Will the Martin (Jeff, not Frank; by the way, are you guys related?) family be coming to any basketball games this year? Happy Holidays!
Answered 12/10/08 13:57:48 by Jeffrey Martin
A: My parents are coming to the KU game at the Octagon of Doom.Submitted by allen bell from wichita, ks
Q: do you think chris harper will transfer to k state and arthur brown
Answered 12/02/08 12:00:28 by Jeffrey Martin
A: These kids are on teams that are still playing. It's not fair to them to even speculate on something like that.Submitted by Catscratch from Broomfield, CO
Q: Jeff, after looking at some of the play of Kentucky and Iowa vs. Kansas State, the one wild card I see is Ron Anderson. The guy has got to start stepping it up.....period. What are Martin's thoughts regarding Anderson?
Answered 12/02/08 11:59:35 by Jeffrey Martin
A: He needs to produce more. I think he's struggling defensively. He can score, but Frank has shown that he won't play someone if they're slacking on defense.Submitted by Dave Wendell from Jerseyville, IL
Q: Jeff, Why do you call the Snyder era the "reign of terror"? Is he mean to you guys (the media)?
Answered 12/02/08 11:58:44 by Jeffrey Martin
A: He LOVES us.Submitted by Jim Struber from Galva, KS
Q: Have you heard when we may hear anything from Snyder about hiring assistants? I think I am as curious as many other folks from K-State. Also, where do you think Prince will go? Any ideas? Thanks
Answered 12/02/08 11:58:36 by Jeffrey Martin
A: He said today he is two-thirds done with his staff. Once the staff is complete, a release will be forthcoming.Submitted by Boyd Teegarden from Newberg, Or.
Q: I have been reading a lot about our guard play on the mens basketball team which seems to be starting to work together very well. My concern is the development of the big men to compete with the upcoming teams: Kentucky, Oregon, West Virginia or Iowa? This is a very important series of games to determine are development going into the Big 12. Will we crash the boards or stand at the 3 point line and fire away?
Answered 11/28/08 21:51:38 by Jeffrey Martin
A: I think it's going to be OK. That's the best I've got mere minutes before K-State meets UK. You have to believe.Submitted by Catscratch from Broomfield, CO
Q: The hiring of Snyder wasn't surprising considering that, I believe, he made a rash decision in deciding to quit three years ago. This time, I feel he knows his job is to re-establish the program and have his successor in waiting on the staff he will bring in after the first or second year.......fine tunig a staff sometimes takes several years to get done. I wasn't disappointed in the hire since I know he's a quality guy. Let's see what kind of staff he can attract this time around and keep.......

A: Can't argue with this logic one bit.Submitted by Tom from Lenexa, Kansas
Q: Mirror, mirror, on the wall Tell us how the chips may fall Will the names that Bill announces Give the team tremendous bounces? Will those assistants be those from the past, Or will Bill be choosing those whose fortunes are rising fast? How can Wildcat fans see if the choices are sound, Or will the future tell if the right people are found? You see, we hope a recruiting pipeline will soon be spilling Defensive players whose play is thrilling So please Jeff Martin tell us all the news Wilcat fans want to know who Bill will choose
Answered 11/28/08 21:49:11 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Two things - I appreciate the amount of work that undoubtedly went into that piece of prose, but unfortunately, I don't have a clue about assistants. I think information will be much more difficult to come by with Bill in charge. I've jokingly coined this the "reign of terror." Of course, I probably shouldn't have written that because he might hold that against me.Submitted by Topher from Wichita
Q: I here that Brent Venables is moving from OU to be the D.C. for Snyder so he can take over when Coach retires. What have you heard about this? What do you think think about Jim Leavitt as coach instead of Snyder?
Answered 11/26/08 14:23:50 by Jeffrey Martin
A: You hear that? Where are you hearing that? Do you realize how closely Bill Snyder is keeping these potential hires to himself? I believe what you're hearing are rumors. Doubt Venables will be coming back to K-State, but anything is possible.Submitted by Catscratch from Broomfield, CO
Q: Jeff, please don't think I've ever been a 'hater' on Prince. He just never inspired me with the gimmicks he brought to the game.....almost like he was more interested in seeing what would work than what would win. Regardless of what the 'experts' say on the situation, you can win at KSU. It's been done. The admin folks have to find a guy that will build on past history and use it to his advantage in recruiting. Committ to the spread and find people with passion on defense to play it and teach it......I'll be looking for experience, too. Not another 'no name'.......

Q: Jeff, Nice info on the K-State womens B-ball team in your K-Stated blog. The hire of Snyder is compelling in many ways. Have you heard anything on who he might hire for assistant coaches?
Answered 11/26/08 11:03:12 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Just the usual names.Submitted by big_chief from Waterloo, IA (birthplace of the one and only Darren Sproles)
Q: Jeff, love your work and thanks for the great coverage of KSU. In your colossal expanse of K-State wisdom, which scenario would you rather see play out and which is better for KSU in the long run? #1: Bill Snyder comes back with a rejuvenated staff, including a high profile OC or DC as a possible head coach in training. #2: Gary Patterson returns to his alma mater and brings a defense back to KSU.
