Q: Why did Ludwig leave? How much is this going to set back our 'O'?
Answered 03/10/09 09:52:02 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Haven't spoken with Andy. I'm not sure how much it will set back the 'O' because I don't know how much he improved anything in a few weeks...Submitted by Ryan from Manhattan, KS
Q: Jmart, how can you work for the KUstar? On Feb 17th they wrote in the college buzz section that the McDonald’s rosters would be unveiled today and implied that KU's Elijah Johnson and Thomas Robinson were locks to be selected and that Wally Judge for KSU had "an outside shot to make the roster as well." Well last time I looked Wally made the team and the other two not so much! Whats up with that? You need to set them stright over there!
Answered 02/24/09 15:34:27 by Jeffrey Martin
A: It's OK. Seriously. Here's some perspective for you - who has more McDonald's All-Americans in the last three years, KU or K-State? It's K-State, which would surprise a lot of folks.Submitted by NJ from Mississippi
Q: Whats your thoughts on Ludwig leaving? Also, who will be named the new OC?
Answered 02/24/09 15:32:35 by Jeffrey Martin
A: I don't have many thoughts, although I was told recently that Bill Snyder was prepared to allow the Wildcats to run Ludwig's offense, which would have been a departure. Most realize that while Snyder was the head coach, he was also always the offensive coordinator. So, that was surprising. I think you can expect either Dana Dimel or Del Miller to land the job, and there are some published reports suggesting the two former and current K-State assistants might share the position. Should be a lot of fun.Submitted by David Peterson from Wichita, Ks
Q: Last night on the pressbox you mentioned something about a negative story regarding K-State to break in a couple of weeks. Can you give some more insight? Thanks.

A: You listen to me on KGSO? Good stuff. Oh, I just meant the mess surrounding Krause, Wefald, etc. Same ol', just more of the same.Submitted by ksudrew from cedar rapids, iowa
Q: how about I help you out with a live blog from ames next week? you verbalize your observations, i transcribe them into a live blog for you so you don't miss any of the action? your fans would love it!!

Q: Can you comment on the report about racial slurs coming from the KU bench? Also, point of emphasis; When someone such as Freeze mentions a 'what if scenario', please don't redirect it to KU, we get enough coverage of their team everywhere else (or if you do, how about stating 'what if' Memphis could hit free throws, etc.).
Answered 02/19/09 10:56:43 by Jeffrey Martin
A: No. I didn't hear the alleged slurs, so I won't comment.Submitted by SP2fplg from CO
Q: FYI, Ski lit up Fresno State in The Octagon, not the Garden.

Q: Askia Jones' 62 was scored in an earlier NIT round played in Bramlage Coliseum, not MSG. Just an FYI.

A: Awesome. Thanks for the correction.Submitted by Richard from Sacramento, CA.
Q: Jeff, Here's my assessment from afar. Two really bad losses (Oregon and Baylor), a couple of questionable losses (Nebraska and Iowa), some quality wins (Cleveland State, Texas, Texas A & M, and Missouri) and a low RPI. I think five more wins gets KSU into the NCAA, but after what happened two years ago I'm obviously a bit nervous. So here's my question: How much of a factor do coaching reps and personalities play into committee selections? I doubt that anyone would openly admit it, but it seemed that two years ago Texas Tech got in with a worse Big 12 record and a tournament loss to KSU BECAUSE of Knight's reputation. I wonder if the perception that Martin is a hothead will work against the 'Cats? What do you think?
Answered 02/19/09 10:55:17 by Jeffrey Martin
A: No. The numbers matter. K-State needs more wins, simple as that. I think six more would keep the Cats safe no matter what happens, whether that's winning out and getting one in the Big 12 tourney, or winning four of the last five and getting two in the Big 12 tourney. But six should do the trick.Submitted by Thunder_Cat from Topeka, KS
Q: Hey Jeff you going to buck the trend of ignoring Frank Martin's amazing path of moving this program up and do an article in the Eagle/Star of the only area McDonald's All American Wally Judge??
Answered 02/19/09 10:53:58 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Yes, I was just thinking about that. I'm going to do something soon, I believe.Submitted by Richard from Sacramento, CA.
Q: Jeff, Glad to see you're back answering questions. Here's one for you. Everyone keeps going on and on about Kobe Bryant scoring a record 61 points in MSG. If memory serves Askia Jones scored 62 in an NIT semi-final match. Are they simply talking about professional records? I don't think Jones's accomplishment should be diminished. Sure, it was a college game, but still. . .he did it in just a 40 minute game. I'm probably just being silly, but thought it was worth pointing out.
Answered 02/09/09 14:15:22 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Good point. Probably NBA-record 61. Not a facility record. That's all I've got.Submitted by zac from pittsburgh
Q: You think you will do an article on how horrendous recruiting went for the football team?
Answered 02/09/09 14:14:15 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Nah.Submitted by Ron Kittle from Sumter, SC
Q: Jeffrey Martin, I have a question which a sports guru such as yourself may know off the top of your head. Why do college basketball teams wear white when they are playing at home, while college football teams wear white when they are playing at an away game? Why the difference? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks for your help.

Q: The new recruiting class looks subpar. Any takes on them? The new coaches seem to be about the best assembled. Any takes on them? How they're meshing? or new things coming down? Keep up the great work.
Answered 02/09/09 14:12:55 by Jeffrey Martin
A: I suspect the class was brought in just to fill holes that were deemed highly suspect. I also believe the coaching staff is convinced it will be more effective than the previous staff in terms of teaching and conveying fundamentals, and I'd have to agree with their beliefs.Submitted by Freeze from Haysville
Q: Jeff, great segment on the Pressbox last week. Just for fun, how good would K-state have been last year, if Clemente didn’t have to sit out a year and Hoskins was eligible. Starting Lineup…Pullen, Clemente, Walker, Hoskins, Beasley. To me, that team would have been pretty tough.
Answered 02/09/09 14:11:45 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Hey, I enjoy make believe as much as anyone. But c'mon... Imagine KU if Chalmers, Arthur and Rush had stuck around. Taking your premise a step further, and imagining how much improvement will take place, how good is K-State's backcourt going to be next year? Discuss.Submitted by Steve from Garden City, KS
Q: I see that one-time Georgetown commit DeShonte Riley (center) is now uncommitted... Any thoughts on if we have had any contact with him?
Answered 01/29/09 11:52:03 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Not sure about Riley. I'll ask around.Submitted by zac from Pittsburgh, PA

Q: Jeff, quarterback appears to be a focal point of Snyder's first recruiting class, what are his chances of bringing in somebody like Tyrik Rollison or Denard Robinson?
Answered 01/29/09 11:50:57 by Jeffrey Martin
A: Rollison is out. As for Robinson, I think he's waiting to see if an offer is forthcoming from Florida. Not certain if he's a college quarterback or just an athlete.Submitted by IHMS from bartlesville,ok
