Q: Will the KU Basketball games in Canada be on radio?
Answered 08/25/08 09:28:21 by Kirk Seminoff
A: KFH's listings for this weekend show the Sunday games will be aired at 3:30 and 5:45 p.m. The 3:30 is a tape delay.Submitted by konzahawk from Kansas City, MO
Q: What happened to the KU Beat Writer? The KU articles are directly from the KC Star. Pretty sad. The state's largest newspaper doesn't feel its flagship university is worthy of its own writer.
Answered 08/25/08 09:26:31 by Kirk Seminoff
A: The Eagle and Star began collaborative efforts this summer in Kansas and Kansas State coverage. Jeffrey Martin of The Eagle covers K-State for both papers, while Brady McCollough of The Star covers KU for both papers.Submitted by Beth from Goodlettsville Tn

Q: I was told that there were several photos from the NBC tournament taken this weekend and were posted on kansas.com. I can not find them anywhere and was wondering if you might be able to tell me where they would be. Thanks.
Answered 08/04/08 10:46:47 by Kirk Seminoff
A: There have only been a handful of photos each day so far. Go to Kansas.com/sports and click on "previous nbc coverage."Submitted by Minor Scott from Sun City West, Az.
Q: Is there going to be a National Semi-Pro tournament in Wichita this year? If so what are the dates? Has the Kansas tournament been played? Who owns and runs the tournaments now? Thank You From an old Boeing Bomber
Answered 07/31/08 13:10:41 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Hello Bomber, the NBC World Series begins Friday night. Check Kansas.com tomorrow for stories, stats, a schedule and bracket. It goes through Aug. 15. The Midwest Regional (no longer a state tournament) was played last week. Sort of. The championship game was rained out and Park City was awarded the title when Junction City said it couldn't return the next day to make it up.Submitted by michelle Welch from Wichita
Q: Is it possible for the paper to cover the Walter Johnson league too like they do the Jayhawk league. It would be nice to be able to get the same type of information. There are a lot of local guys playing on various teams in the Walter Johnson league
Answered 07/09/08 16:48:45 by Kirk Seminoff
A: The problem is getting the information from the WJL. We'd be glad to run standings. If you are aware of a league statistician, please e-mail me at kseminoff@wichitaeagle.com.Submitted by Sprinter from Wichita
Q: I have been ready the coverage from the Olympic Track Field Trials and noticed a few mentions from some former Kansas runners. With that being said, why hasn't Tyson Gay, former Barton Coutny athlete, received any coverage for his 100-meter championship?
Answered 07/08/08 13:26:32 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Tyson Gay received quite a bit of mention for his 100 victory, and it was noted that he attended Barton.Submitted by A from Wichita, KS
Q: Not a question...I was just wondering how I can get someone to write an article about a youth soccer team that Won State Cup a few weekends back. I have emailed several people at the paper and have gotten NO responses. Maybe you can give me some help. Thanks
Answered 06/17/08 13:02:59 by Kirk Seminoff
A: We run achievements of youth athletic teams in Friday's Hometown Sports roundup. Please send the information to hometown@wichitaeagle.com.Submitted by Todd Leif from Concordia, KS
Q: Kirk, Not really a question for you to post, just a note about something I noticed. I'm sure it is just an over site on the Eagles Sport Staff but last weekend I was reading about Kansans in the Minors and I saw that you left out Jared Goedert, Concordia, KS, former Cloud County CC and Kansas State University Baseball Alumni. He plays for Kinston Indians... Same team Jared Head, Topecka plays for... Maybe you could update your stats. Thanks Todd Jared Goedert 3B 46 184 19 51 11 0 4 30 74 15 28 0 0 .340 .402 .277 .742 5

Q: Why is it the Eagle slams K-State for losing a scholarship in basketball on the front page of the sports section and then buries a small paragraph, on a page other than listed as the jump, on KU's loss of 2 scholarships in football? Better zip up your pants, your bias is showing.
Answered 05/07/08 09:12:01 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Zip up your own pants, my friend. When KU announced its penalties on March 17, it was on the front of the Sports section. How soon you forget.Submitted by Mr. Baseball from Wichita
Q: Why is the Eagle not paying more attention to the Emporia State baseball team. They have won 31 in a row, and are currently fourth in the Division II polls. They played the shockers very close for the second time in three years, and Coach Fornellie does nothing but win. I am just wondering why they get no love.

Q: Do you know how many season tickets the Wingnuts have sold for this upcoming year?
Answered 04/11/08 16:11:57 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Nope, not yet. We'll be checking into that as opening day approaches.Submitted by JV from Lenexa, KS
Q: Kirk, I think it's probably just a simple mistake, but the box scores from several of the last WSU baseball games have been left out of the online paper. I'm especially interested in the box score from last night's KU game, and always check here first. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (It really helps the out-of-towners.)
Answered 04/02/08 13:02:55 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Check the story again in a few minutes, I have put it on the game story. It should usually be either on the game story or game report (says "Shocker report").Submitted by Mark Turgeon from Wichita
Q: Do you think it was my fault or gillispie's that we blew the lead to UCLA?
Answered 03/24/08 10:42:35 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Two days later and I still think the Aggie driving the hole got hacked. But Turgeon never did have a sterling reputation for late-game management, did he? Don't think this one's on him. It's UCLA.Submitted by The guy behind the g from LA
Q: Why do you keep using the NE Patriots' logo for Portland State's logo? Keep it real!

Q: I have heard it's insulting to the cook if you salt your food before tasting it. To me, it's more insulting to taste after, because you're saying you tasted it, and it needs more salt. What do you think? And to make this a sports question, pretend the salting is going on at a Super Bowl party.
Answered 03/11/08 14:11:06 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Wow, fascinating question. If you salt before the kickoff (tasting it), does that say, "Hey, I know you can't cook, I'm going to improve it from Bite No. 1?"Submitted by Jess Sojka from Wichita, KS
Q: A) The KC media outlets are saying that the Royals will have up 140 televised games (some in HD) in 2008. Will we get this many in Wichita? B) What about radio? Last year, nearly every game was on AM. What local station will carry Royals games on radio?
Answered 03/11/08 13:34:44 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Yes, FSN (Ch. 34) will carry all of those games. Far as we know, KC will get no more games than Wichita. One of Entercom's stations, I believe 1240-AM/98.7-FM, will have Royals on Radio. ("Thanks, Ryan, hi everybody. David DeJesus steps in.")Submitted by wdewerff from Ellinwood, Kansas
Q: I would like a posting of the Region VI Jayhawk Conference playoff bracket. Can there be one posted?

Q: I have an idea for a "feel good" story this basketball season. Keitha Adams is in a 20 game winning steak with her UTEP women's basketball team. She is ranked 17th in the nation, and has won the Conf USA. She started with a team that won two games seven years ago. Keitha is a graduate of Oxford (Kan.) and Southwestern College, coached at Winfield High, then won a couple of championships at Independence Juco before going to UTEP. UTEP is not a recruiting dream, but she has built a good program. Would you do a story for people who know her?

Q: This new Royals' manager is reminding me of control-freak Buck Showalter, which is good short term but very bad three seasons down the road.
Answered 02/28/08 02:36:26 by Kirk Seminoff
A: Just because he's measuring every player's head for caps himself doesn't mean he's a control freak.
