Not long ago, the media made us listen to mind-numbing stories about the "balloon boy." This week they've given us hours of useless information about a five-chapter book written by another publicity hound named Sarah Palin. Where is Walter Cronkite when you need him?

Why do people make a big deal out of Palin's so-called lack of experience when she has had 100 times more than President Obama? Oh, yeah — Obama is a great speaker.

I hope our president realizes that the United States needs China more than China needs the United States.

Get your Hitler facts straight. He claimed in "Mein Kampf" to have wanted to enter the clergy when young, but he never studied to be a priest. In any case, under Hitler, crosses on churches were outlawed, and his book superseded the Bible on the altars. He was no Christian.

I'm tired of the political correctness surrounding Islam. Islam is incompatible with Western civilization, especially American society. The objective of Islam is to see the entire world under Sharia law.

I see that Warren Buffett says things are looking better for America. It's easy to think so when you have a roof over your head, the furnace running and a full pantry.

Congratulations to the powers that be at KU for being so close to spinning themselves back into football obscurity. I knew it couldn't last. Get off coach Mark Mangino's back.

It's obvious what has happened at KU. Mangino has eaten a couple of the players.

What are women supposed to do? Do we get mammograms or not? It makes it hard for us to believe anything doctors tell us now.

We live in the land of the free, because of the brave. Remember our troops of yesterday and today. Anyone who would call one of our veterans a "murderer" must be a stoned old hippie.

I want to apologize for the woman who insulted the Vietnam veteran. She can speak but she cannot think.

I was sad to see Toys for Tots boxes at McDonald's without any toys in them. Please help the children.

To the person who ran over my precious cat at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday: She's dead. Her name was Jasmine. She had soft white fur, beautiful blue eyes and a red collar. She was so deeply loved, and you didn't even stop to say you were sorry.
