Opinion Line (Nov. 20)

Military people know how to fight wars, but diplomatic tactics may prevent wars. Perhaps President Obama can catch more flies with honey than the military can with bombs.

Why do Republicans think that Americans cannot successfully house the Guantanamo detainees in the United States? Do Republicans think Americans are too stupid for the job?

Why does Obama remind me of the dude in the orange jumpsuit on the Nick Jr. show "Yo Gabba Gabba!"? Is it the fact that they are both just trying to entertain the young?

Ronald "Reagan treated the middle class like dirt"? Reagan's tax cuts turned around Jimmy Carter's high-interest, gas-rationing economy and spurred our country, middle class included, to never-before-seen prosperity.

Government rationing of health care is inevitable. The rationing of the H1N1 vaccine is just one example of how it already is done.

I can't wait to hear from Sarah Palin's personal thinkers about how unfairly her new book has been vetted by the liberal media.

How typical and stereotypical for a Wichita City Council member and others to pass judgment on the residents in the central-northeast area, when many of us financially support philanthropy in our workplaces and places of worship and through civic organizations. Shame on those who perpetuate racist stereotyping.

The Lord's Diner should acquire a bus and run a shuttle service daily to and from the East 21st Street area.

Take a walk around Wichita. Look in trash bins and under bridges. The homeless are everywhere.

To the Opinion Line contributor who noted that Virginia took only seven years to execute the D.C. sniper and that Kansas takes 15 or 20 years to maybe execute somebody: Don't you know that Kansas is always years behind what's happening on the coasts?

Shut schools down after three nine-week periods, instead of four, and save the state a lot of money. Parents don't want their taxes to go up, so let the kids hang out on the couch an extra nine weeks. Problem solved.

Wichita should be investing in industries such as passenger trains, high-speed rail, and wind and solar energy, not crying about the aircraft industry.
