Opinion Line Extra (Nov. 20)

To those who proudly fly your American flags, place yellow ribbons on your cars and so abuse your freedom of speech: You have veterans to thank for many of the everyday liberties you take for granted. And they aren't just men; you have women to thank, too. Remember them next Nov. 11.

I have very little faith that the people who were so incredibly reckless and irresponsible as to vote for President Obama in the first place can be counted on to actually understand what they have done.

I feel so sorry for all those bright young men and women who have spent all that money for college and medical school. When President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are finished, they won't make any more money than I do.

The Holocaust pictures displayed at Rep. Michele Bachmann's recent tea party at the Capitol were despicable. Rep. Todd Tiahrt and other Republicans said nothing, thereby showing their approval.

The government Web site dealing with jobs created by the stimulus package cited job creation in congressional districts that do not even exist. Is there no end to the government's incompetence?

The Lord's Diner should expand to southeast Wichita, around South Hillside or South Oliver. There are a lot of people in need in the Oaklawn-Planeview-Hilltop area.

The Bible may not be a science book, but then neither is "The Origin of Species."

Atheism is not a crime.

Unhappy with credit- and debit-card fees? Stick it to the banking monopoly and use cash. It's fee-free.

Thank the Navajo Indians for saving us from the Japanese. They spoke a language that the Japanese could not break. We owe so much to them. I hope they keep their traditions to pass down to their children and grandchildren.

The 35 mph zone on the newly opened stretch of Kellogg is the Wichita Police Department at its worst. Police are going to nail people going shopping with a construction zone ticket. Why is the speed limit 50 mph in the construction zone near I-135 and 35 mph in the zone near Rock?
