Opinion Line (Nov. 13)

When we elected Barack Obama as president, people thought he was going to change our country for the better. Well, it's one year later, and we still don't have a health care bill and our country is in more debt than ever.

President Obama is doing a great job. It will take another 20 years to clean up all the destruction that George W. Bush left behind.

I want to thank the "radical" Democrats who fought Republicans to give us socialistic programs such as Social Security and Medicare and are trying to expand health care to cover all of us.

How could members of the general public possibly be trusted to vote intelligently on the health care bill? After all, they elected Obama.

* * *

Any form of government — socialist, Marxist, democratic, dictatorship, communist, etc. —is only as good as its leaders. A dictatorship would be great if Jesus Christ were the dictator.

To those who think that all Muslims are bad: I pray for your souls. Extremists are just that — extremists.

* * *

USD 259 is part of the group gearing up to sue the state? Just what we need — USD 259 spending our money to sue us for more money.

So Hawker Beechcraft is closing the plant in Salina. More American jobs lost. Where are our airplane parts going to be made now? China or Mexico? Way to go. Makes me want to take the bus or train.

Burglaries are up more than 7 percent. But Wichita police officers act like tough guys for writing tickets. Maybe they should get their priorities straight.

* * *

We need to hire a consulting group to help us plan how to promote Wichita as the pothole capital of the world. Strategic positioning of potholes and appropriate signage will ensure we become a destination city.

The arena has good acts coming to perform. But if it wants a big crowd, it should appeal to the young people.

* * *

Why do people buy pets but then neglect them and leave them outside all day and night? If you can't love and care for your pets, give them to someone who can.

* * *

I think that this Thanksgiving, people should dig deep and share as much as they can, even if they cannot give very much. The world needs more love.
