President Obama cannot vote "present" this time on Afghanistan. Voting "present" helped get him elected, but he is now in a job that requires decisions.

I understand that the president is unwilling to help a corrupt government. Afghanistan needs to prove that it can get its act together before we commit to pumping great sums of money and our servicemen's welfare into the country.

John F. Kennedy's famous quote has been turned around to, "Ask what your country can take from you and give to somebody else who doesn't deserve it."

Good for Walmart for selling caskets. Funeral homes are charging huge prices for their caskets, which people feel they need to bury their loved ones in. Why can't Walmart offer people caskets they can afford?

I have to wonder: Will the caskets Walmart is selling be made in China?

When I see beautiful fall foliage in Wichita, I am reminded of former City Manager Chris Cherches, who mandated the planting of trees and bushes.

Why don't we create a reason for U2 to come to Wichita? Music groups could accommodate to fit the market if they really wanted to.

There is no need to recycle the Golden Rule. You are seeing it in action today: He who has the gold rules.

If The Eagle required Opinion Line submissions to be supported by facts, as one reader suggested, where could the Republicans go to say what they wanted to say?

* * *

Opinions have nothing to do with facts. They are like noses. Everybody has one.

Once again I'd like to thank Richard Crowson for telling it like it is on the Opinion page of the Sunday paper. He really knows how to get the truth across in his cartoons.
