Phillip Brownlee joined The Eagle's editorial department in 1996 and became opinion editor in 2001. He has a bachelor's degree in business from Sterling College and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. His responsibilities at The Eagle include leading editorial board meetings, writing and editing editorials, and editing letters to the editor and commentaries. Rhonda Holman joined The Eagle's editorial staff in 1997, moving from the newsroom after nearly a decade of writing about entertainment and the fine arts. She grew up in Halstead and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Kansas. Her duties for The Eagle include writing editorials and copyediting. Richard Crowson is a freelance editorial cartoonist for The Eagle. He was born and raised "in the shadow of Graceland" in Memphis. His work has been reprinted in Time, Newsweek, the New York Times, the Washington Post and USA Today. A collection of his Eagle editorial cartoons titled "Prairie Mirth" was published in 1992.
