Sen. Pat Roberts has duped his Republican supporters again. By voting to end debate on Loretta Lynch’s confirmation as attorney general, he ensured a Democrat victory. His subsequent vote against her became meaningless and was cynically designed to assuage his donors.
One can’t support tighter restrictions on public assistance and be opposed to raising the minimum wage. Most people using these programs are either employed full time or have multiple part-time jobs. I’m sick of helping Wal-Mart and the like pay their employees. These corporations are the biggest welfare queens of all.

Our former mayor made two trips to Africa while in office to establish “trade relations.” Taxpayers paid for one. How is it that with all the talk of how our money is spent there has been no follow-up, nor even mention of it ever since?

The root cause of our world’s problems is too many people, especially people who are destroying it.
I’m not sure what the city is building at Roosevelt and 13th Street, but it sure looks like wasted money.
Thank you to Evies Cranford and Sharon Hill Cranford for their April 24 letter pointing out how ridiculous a racketeering charge was against those teachers in Georgia. As if teachers don’t already get a mountain of disrespect, a racketeering charge in the face of flimsy evidence was the final insult.
I stopped respecting teachers when they unionized and began protecting terrible teachers.
As a sophomore I had more JV playing time than the varsity benchwarmers, yet received no varsity letter. When I did earn a varsity letter, it had a special meaning of accomplishment. The spineless school board just watered down the value of that accomplishment.
Leonard Pitts’ column just contributes to more racial angst. What a deeply troubled and embittered man.
With Dr. Oz getting ratted out as a quack, finally, after we suspected it all along, maybe The Eagle will remove him as a featured contributor to the paper. The same thing needs to happen to Leonard Pitts, the left-wing poison-spewing columnist who ruins every Monday edition.
