While electricity, gas and water utilities frequently request rate increases to cover their cost of doing business, I can’t recall the last time my trash service raised its rates. It faces the same economic trials as other businesses, yet doesn’t transfer that burden to customers.
Can someone please tell me why it’s going to take two years to repave 3 miles of 135th Street West between 71st Street South and K-42?
Guns do kill people. All shooting fatalities require at least one gun and one bullet. If you throw your bullets at me, that will just annoy me.

It’s great to be living in a country where a court, rather than civil or religious war and bloodshed, can solve conflicts regarding our laws. I wonder how long it will last.

Leonard Pitts strangely omitted the fact that without Republican support the Civil Rights Act would not have passed (June 30 Opinion). I’m sure it was just an accidental oversight. Yeah, right.
