I watched President Obama award a young, grievously wounded Marine lance corporal the Medal of Honor for throwing himself onto a grenade to shield a comrade. I only wish the president had shown more respect for the Marine and the medal by ensuring it hung correctly around the neck while being clasped.

It is good to hear from Dick Cheney again. Just remember this, if you look up “coward” in the dictionary, there is a picture of our illustrious former vice president next to the definition of the word.

I think we need to get back to having adults in the White House before it’s too late.

I was alive during Watergate and the IRS pales in comparison, as well as many other President Obama scandals. Two years of e-mails lost, and the people in charge say the hard drive was destroyed? E-mails are saved on the server; this episode is absolutely beyond comprehension.

What the world needs is more makers who aren’t also takers.

If you think that the Washington Redskins debate in Washington is really about the Redskins name, you are clueless. It’s all about “look in this hand,” because the other hand is choked full of scandals. If you don’t believe me, look in the other hand of this administration.

Elected Sam Brownback and what did we get? Another day older, millions deeper in debt. But not to worry, the Kansas governor and his merry band of irresponsible legislators living in financial la-la land assure us the state is in fine shape to repay a $645 million loan after the election.

Kansas should only borrow half of the amount needed in regard to the state budget. Nobody can know when an accident will occur, or if we will have a good year. There is insurance with diversity; taxes should cover the other half.

Finally Brownback has done something I approve of. He named school district superintendents to a commission that will study public schools’ performance. It looks like the rest of the panel will be made up of folks with political connections rather than expertise in the areas being examined.

Ask the rape victim that Hillary Clinton threw under the bus during a trial in 1975 if she stands up for women.

When streets and highways are no longer drivable. When there are no public parks and you can’t breathe the air or drink the water. When America’s “envy of the world” public education system is a thing of the past. What will you think of the tea party then?

Scientists have announced that their theory concerning a gravitational-wave pattern supporting the big bang theory may actually have been caused by dust from our Milky Way. As long as it doesn’t have an effect on “The Big Bang Theory” TV show, I don’t care.
