Is there a moratorium on street maintenance in Wichita? In 35 years of driving I’ve never seen this level of disrepair. I guess the City Council is trying to garner support for a sales tax increase that is otherwise not needed.
Hire good managers for our government buildings. As it is, our buildings fall in disrepair under their watch. Then the managers want brand-new, multimillion-dollar structures. Examples include the Central Library, Century II and the law enforcement training center.
We have lost businesses since Mayor Carl Brewer and City Manager Robert Layton started. We were a booming aircraft town. Stop the stupid spending and live in the budget. No more sales tax.

The First Amendment protects freedom of speech and, by implication, freedom of thought and emotions – regardless of how despicable others find it.
Marijuana robs people of critical thinking, thereby causing them to vote for Democrats. This is why it’s called “dope.”
The current Kansas administration has shown itself to be not only inept but potentially corrupt as well. The voters should send a message in November that those Washington, D.C., pay-for-play games don’t go around here.
Gov. Sam Brownback is destroying the Kansas we once knew.

Worse, the performance of elected officials has made many of us consider not their party but any other party that would not tolerate them.
It’s funny how lefties forget that all leading Democrats cried that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. It wasn’t just Bush. Had we moved sooner on Iraq, the weapons of mass destruction wouldn’t have been moved out.
I am not going into any bar that wants to know my background by scanning my driver’s license. My background is my personal business. I should be able to scan all the trouble that has happened in your business by the type of people you attract.
I was a Kansas farm kid in the 1940s and 1950s. Pretty much all farmers back then had a couple of shotguns and a couple of .22 caliber rifles. Nobody was going to take them away, and we knew it. What kind of craziness has been whipped up in this country by the NRA.
Is today a good day for Westar Energy to ask for another rate hike?
