The problem that almost everyone recognizes with our current president is that he doesn’t know how to make decisions based on evidence versus ideology.
It seems to me that the people who are avid states’ rights supporters are the same people who want the U.S. to stick its nose into the internal business of other countries.
It’s disgusting to hear what is happening to our vets at VA hospitals. I wonder how long it will take for Obama to blame the VA scandal on Bush.
A reader wondered which Republican would get blamed for the issues at the VA. Perhaps the Republican president who started the two useless wars that created the backlog in the first place. That seems appropriate to me.
How is the VA scandal that resulted in the deaths of those denied health care any different from Gov. Sam Brownback’s refusal to expand Medicaid? Perhaps because Brownback isn’t Obama, it’s OK if people die from lack of health care in Kansas.
Too bad we can’t abolish party labels. Just think what might be accomplished if we elected our representatives based solely on their character, honesty, integrity, merit and qualifications for the job. Using such criteria, how many current officeholders would be re-elected?
I realize that America has been overly suspicious since Sept. 11. However, a bear would never be the same after a good smacking with a two-by-four either. It’s time for everyone to chill out.
Possibly contracting with a private company for snow removal just in case we have another record-breaking snowfall smells of deals being made in backrooms. We survived just fine last winter, even though it was inconvenient for a while.
I live in Overland Park, where the city not only plows the thoroughfares and collector streets but the residential streets as well, all within 24 hours of the last snowflake. This is not hard. All you need are competent people and a plan.
Maybe the city manager should consider giving some kind of break or credit to residents who outfit their personal trucks with plows and agree to plow some area close to their residence. Try it on neighborhood streets first. I bet it works.
When I used to be able to walk my dog, I resented the people who threw trash out of their cars. Those who deliberately throw glass bottles so they will shatter all over the streets and sidewalks make me very angry.
