Over the Memorial Day weekend, take a moment from all the gaiety with family and friends, barbecue and cold beer, and reflect on the meaning of the day. In your own way, say a prayer for those laid to eternal rest in the prime of their lives.
Memorial Day is set aside to remember and honor those who have died in the service of our country. I have no respect for businesses that use this special day to advertise so-called Memorial Day sales for their own profit. Please honor the dead and the day with respect.
Regarding “Ex-FBI agent’s threat training brings protest from Muslims” (May 22 Eagle): At first I wasn’t sure, but read the entire article and it becomes clear that it’s profiling training.
It doesn’t matter if you are Muslim, Baptist, Jew, Catholic, atheist or any other religion. If you are one of those and a terrorist, you are the enemy. If you are not a terrorist, you are not the enemy. Your religion is merely a consequence of choice and immaterial.
Republicans should wear the label “obstructionist” as a badge of honor. It is their sworn duty to defend the Constitution and the American people from an overreaching executive branch that is doing its best to diminish, if not destroy, the country domestically as well as internationally.
Pat Roberts claiming he’s a Kansas resident to qualify for a fourth term is analogous to claiming ketchup, pickle relish and pizza are vegetables to qualify for school-lunch menus. Fool us once, shame on you, Senator. Fool us four times – we must truly be numbskulls.
Well I did it. It was simple to go online and re-register as a Republican so I could vote in the primary against all the Koch brothers’ candidates. Thanks, Secretary of State Kris Kobach. Sorry, but I won’t be voting for you.
Kobach shouldn’t worry about newspapers’ criticism. There are many of us who support his positions and would like to see him do more to get the illegals out of Kansas. The U.S. is not here to provide benefits, education and health care to them.
A robocall survey asked whether if the election for governor were held today, I would vote Republican, Democrat or “undecided.” Libertarian Keen Umbehr is not an “undecided” choice. Why would I vote for either of the two warring parties? All they do is take our money or our rights.
If the people of this country were fully informed, the Democratic Party wouldn’t exist.
What do you bet cloned humans are already walking the Earth?
