The choice should not be between building a new library or a high-tech facility. It should be between building a new library or keeping the old one. Real readers like real books, not computers. We have those at home.
I predict that we will rebuild a downtown library at least twice before our streets get the attention they need. It’s just not glamorous enough for politicians to take care of the basics.
We had a large, well-attended garage sale with more than 150 books of all types for sale for the price of 25 cents each. We sold eight. That alone is proof that we don’t need to throw away millions of tax dollars for a new downtown library.
Why are taxpayers expected to feed every schoolkid? Parental responsibility, please.
It was great to see Gov. Sam Brownback launch his “Fantasy Island” re-election campaign. I hear Kris Kobach is going to be Tattoo. I guess Brownback feels that if he stands really tall and straight and repeats his “facts,” people will believe them.
Oh, what a tangled web Brownback weaves; he spins what he wants us to believe.
The current Republican Party has nothing in common with Bob Dole or Ronald Reagan. GOP now stands for “gridlock, obstruction and paralysis.”
Liberals write off the Benghazi scandal by saying, “What’s done is done.” Too bad Richard Nixon didn’t know that’s all he had to say.
The secret waiting lists and general Veterans Affairs mess around the country began, you guessed it, right about the time Obama became president.
Anybody notice what is happening with the VA? I don’t usually bet, but I got 10 bucks that we will get a similar situation with Obamacare.
I am not going to defend the Veterans Affairs health care system. However, as a Vietnam veteran who applied for VA benefits about four years ago, I can say that the service and care at the Wichita VA center has been exceptional.
I picked up the Saturday paper hoping to read something about Armed Forces Day. I saw almost no mention of those who serve in our Armed Forces. God bless our men and women who serve to keep us free.
Thanks, Eagle, for the Perfect Summer special edition in the Sunday Eagle. It is a great collection of fresh and fun ideas with which to enjoy our summer. I can’t wait to try the pizza.
