Most people earning a minimum wage are working at entry-level jobs. When they perform well, they win promotion to more responsible positions. Some politicians want to force employers to pay more than jobs are worth. Past government efforts have been total failures. We can’t have it both ways.
If the national debt is to be settled, someone’s going to have to pay for it. I don’t think it should come out of your grandma’s Social Security and Medicare.
Never miss a local story.
Whether uninformed or misinformed, most Obamacare naysayers are from the same mold as Sarah Palin. They are as rife with fear as a person lost in the dark, and so, continually express wrong-minded opinions on all manner of things they know absolutely nothing about.
My one wish for the new year is that each and every Democrat who voted for it finally finds the time to read the Affordable Care Act. Only then can there be the infinitesimal chance that they will understand the damage they have done to the U.S. and its citizens.
Someone left the Fox News channel on at the gym the other night. The first half hour was about how Obamacare can’t ever work, even though it is working. The second half hour was about a war on Christmas that doesn’t exist. The word “news” and “Fox” should not be in the same sentence.
I will never go back to stores that didn’t say “Merry Christmas” when I was Christmas shopping in December. No more “Happy Holidays” for me. Sorry, you can’t take Christ out of Christmas. That is why we celebrate Christmas to begin with, the birth of Christ.
When you say “Happy Holidays,” meaning “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,” why don’t you just say “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”? How hard is that to say? So “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year” to you.
To those who are still debating “Merry Christmas” versus “Happy Holidays”: Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Interesting that banks can’t make electronic deposits into your account on any of their umpteen holidays, yet they can send your electronic billing statement on Christmas.
When I read the first paragraph of Cal Thomas’ Dec. 25 column, I thought he was writing about the Kansas state government.
On Christmas Day I read in the Opinion Line of three different cases where someone had paid for something for someone else. I have read of these things happening before, yet every time I go out I have to pay for things myself. What am I doing wrong?
Jennifer Lawrence is all class. Miley Cyrus is all trash.
I, for one, like most of you, am sick of it all.
