How I wish we were back in the 1940s, when my Democrat grandparents had a big Christmas tree and Grandpa hid candy canes and chocolate-covered cherries everywhere. We had a great holiday season, and the rest of the family was Republican.

Our mayor is just another Democrat ready and willing to borrow money from China for projects we can’t afford. This is the type of thinking that is bankrupting cities across the country and made the federal government beholden to the Chinese. If he is truly serious about this absurdity, a recall election might be in order.

The theory of “Makers and Takers” would be valid if the makers weren’t also the takers.

Wealth in America isn’t a giant pie that the rich divvy up, leaving crumbs for everyone else. Two generations of liberal public education policy have left many students with skills suitable only for Walmart and McDonald’s.

The cheating by ordinary Americans might be attributed to the fact that many very large companies pay no taxes and sometimes also get rebates.

So If Congress does not extend farm bill, milk could go from $3 to $8 a gallon? So taxpayers are paying farmers $5 a gallon? Interesting that the American capital free-market business system depends on billions of taxpayer dollars.

Based on what it has produced in the past five years, a “do-nothing” Congress is probably our best alternative.

Daily diatribes about President Obama on the Opinion page prove way too many people are selfishly wasting time worrying about what their government can do for them instead of working at making this a better world for themselves and for their fellow citizens.

Always remember: A government big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take it all away.

If Obamacare is such a wonderful thing, why does Obama keep violating law and the Constitution by trying to fix it?

If this country would spend the energy getting over what liberals think is politically correct and focus on justice for victims of unspeakable crimes, maybe we could be a proud country again.

Political correctness is way out of line – another form of political control. We have the right to free speech, whether this government thinks so or not.

Ironically, by attacking Phil Robertson’s faith beliefs, GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) did more to tarnish its own image than improve it.

Anyone else tired of hearing about the “poor” “Duck Dynasty” guy? There is nothing poor about him other than his judgment.

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences. At least in this country, those consequences don’t include execution or imprisonment by your government.

The Kmart commercial is the ugliest advertisement on TV at the moment. Men with hip movements mimic jingle bell sounds. Tacky.
