House Republicans seem to think the U.S. has a parliamentary system where the majority party in the lower house sets policy. Boehner seems outraged that Obama doesn’t accept the executive’s proper role as figurehead and has the audacity to challenge directives from the House of Commons – I mean, Representatives.
So why hasn’t every road into the District of Columbia been shut down? The entire district is federal land.
Just because the federal government shutdown isn’t hurting you doesn’t mean that others aren’t suffering. Jumping off a building doesn’t hurt either – until you land. And the longer you fall, the greater and more permanent the damage.
If the Redskins change their name, what are some options? Well, they are in Washington, D.C. They could be the Buffoons, the Carpetbaggers, the Clueless, the Vacuum Cleaners (sucking up your money). The possibilities are endless, like the government’s ability to spend borrowed money.
Kansas needs to pay attention to what California did to solve its financial mess. First it voted out the Republicans. The Democrats cut spending and raised taxes. They now are running a surplus. They are fixing roads and funding public schools. It worked in California and it will work here.
In case you don’t know, City Hall isn’t interested in hearing anything anyone has to say about the future of Wichita.
The two flamingos that left Wichita some years ago had it right. Wichita does nothing to promote new job growth, especially if you are a small business. Protection from general crime is nil, and resistance to anything new will drive young professionals, artists and entrepreneurs elsewhere to survive.
Come on – The Eagle took out “Mother Goose and Grimm” and “Born Loser” for “Brewster Rockit”? It has to be the worst strip I have ever read. “Brewster Rockit” needs to burn up on re-entry. And what is “Judge Parker” doing on a funny page?
At least bring back “Born Loser.” It seems so appropriate now.
Please let me have my “Wizard of Id” back. I miss that great tongue-in-cheek humor and, quite frankly, your new strips stink.
Change is a good thing. Can anyone explain why “Judge Parker” is still on the comics page? What a colossal waste of space. Who reads that dated old dreck?
