Gun zealots claim mental illness is the real cause of the massacres occurring regularly in our violent society. That is partially true, but don’t expect our callous, self-serving politicians to remedy this problem. They are the ones who emptied the mental hospitals and put sick people out on the street.
There are thousands of incidents annually in the U.S. of law-abiding citizens with legally owned guns preventing crimes, often violent ones. The guns are rarely discharged. But we never hear that reported in the news, do we?
It is frightening that people think the NRA or gun owners in general do not absolutely loathe the psychotic miscreants who use firearms for perversely evil purposes.
The USA’s problem with guns will get better when we love our children and our fellow citizens more than we love our guns.
As the number of gun-free zones have increased, so have the number of shooting rampages. Obviously, we should ban gun-free zones.
It’s hilarious when one of our politicians says: “The people of Kansas want….” The only thing they need to know is what their supporters and donors want. And that they are going to get dumped, come primary season, if they dare be so bold as to think for themselves.
Our Congress is so paralyzed by partisan politics that it no longer can do the job it was elected to do, and that is to represent all of us – not the special-interest groups or the wacko-doodles. It’s time we throw out all current members.
When did extortion become a Republican family value?
Conservatives do not hate government. What they hate is big, fat, bloated government that is inefficient and filled with duplicity and massive amounts of wasteful spending.
I love the Celebrations section of the Sunday Eagle, but would someone please tell families that it makes no sense to announce an engagement a week or two before the wedding? A wedding takes months to plan, so the engagement announcement should be printed months ahead as well.
Change is generally a good thing. However, I miss “Born Loser” and “Mother Goose and Grimm” in the comics. In their absence, my days start out a little less humorous. For now at least, I still have “Herman.”
I hope The Eagle will consider putting the old comics back in the paper. The new ones just don’t do it for me.
