We can build another sports complex, but we can’t build a new Central Library. Someday we will have huge bodies and tiny heads. Oops – when I look around, I see that perhaps it has already happened.
I loved Suzanne Perez Tobias’ column “In high-tech age, community should treasure public library” (July 18 WichiTalk). She expressed what so many of us think. The priorities for our tax dollars should still be libraries, parks, streets and public safety. Frills should come last.
Suzanne Perez Tobias said it so well. I’ll bet those people who think we don’t need libraries have never been in one, nor read a book since high school. I won’t use the proposed GoodSports complex, so why should that be built?
Building a new downtown library in Wichita would leave another building empty, like many in Wichita now. No common sense here.
I would have gone to the airport Wednesday and honored the World War II veterans by seeing them off to Washington, D.C., if The Eagle had told us the day before rather than the day of.
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach thought seven cases of alleged voter fraud in five years warranted a change in voter-regulation laws that now has suspended 12,000 voters’ right to vote. Think this is logical or not? Just don’t ask him to help your kids with their math.
We are all in this together. Stand up. Do what is right for this country. No one alive today had anything to do with slavery. This country owes no one anything except the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. “Not guilty” means just that.
We live in an America where facts cannot be cited if they make liberals uncomfortable.
Can someone please explain to me the difference between a Democrat and a socialist?
In our society, it is greed when someone cannot share his hard-earned money to help others. I don’t believe it is greed to use tax dollars to help others when needed.
Why is it I never have an empty tank when gas prices are low? It feels like the living example of “if it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.” Gloom, despair and agony on me.
Please, people – I’m a two-stair stepper. If you’re a one-at-a-timer, that’s fine. But go a little bit faster. I will run you over.
I just recently realized that I am so old I still comb my hair.
